Duane Reade vs. Walgreens

WHY OH WHY is Duane Reade and Walgreens so much different in price for the same item (even their own Nice Brand) and they are the same company?

This week Nov. 3 to Nov. 10 the big deal at Wallgreens is the B1G1 Free Nice Bathroom tissue and/or Nice Paper Towel. I went to 2 Walgreens at the beginning of the week but no luck, everyone cleared the shelves. It dawned on me that Duane Reade and Walgreens are the same company and they sometimes have the same deals. 

I went over to my local Duane Reade's and look what I found. The same deal for the same item but way more expensive.

1 at $4.99.... What???

Walgreens 

B1G1 FREE 

1 at $2.69 = now that's a deal

Even though they are not the same color they ARE the same product, same size, same quantity.
